What scale sets are for?

Customers may add standard VMs to scales sets.

Microsoft Azure reports those machines as both Azure VM and Azure VMSS instance. In Cloudaware CMDB, those machines are displayed as duplicates in related objects of a selected Azure VM Scale Set:

To differentiate virtual machines types for reporting, address the following fields:

  • VM Scale Set

  • VM Scale Set ID

The fields help to identify the VM instances that were originally created as part of the Azure scale set:

If these fields are empty, it means that a VM was initially created as a standard one and then added to a scale set.
